Give your graduates a professional LinkedIn presence from day one.

A structured onboarding programme that sets up every graduate with a profile that reflects your firm's values — and the confidence to use LinkedIn as a professional tool, not a student platform.

The problem most firms don't address

Graduates arrive with LinkedIn profiles that reflect who they were as students. Left unchanged, those profiles remain publicly associated with your firm's name — and most graduates have no framework for using LinkedIn as a professional tool rather than a student platform.

Student Profiles, Professional Brand

University societies, part-time jobs, and generic summaries from career guides — all now associated with your firm. The profile a graduate built at 21 represents the firm they join at 24.

No Framework for Professional Use

Most graduates have never been taught what a professional LinkedIn presence looks like, or what to post in a professional services context. Without that framework, they either post inappropriately or not at all.

Habits That Stick

The LinkedIn habits formed in the first year at the firm tend to be the habits that last. Getting this right at the start is much easier than correcting it three years in.

What the onboarding programme covers

The programme is run by Linda and designed to fit within the first few weeks of your graduate intake. It covers the fundamentals of a professional LinkedIn presence and gives each participant a working profile and a framework for ongoing use.

  • Why LinkedIn matters in professional services — the commercial context
  • Rewriting the profile summary around the graduate's role, practice area, and client focus
  • Headline, experience, and skills — what works for a newly qualified solicitor
  • What to post and what not to post in a professional services context
  • Connecting with intention — building a professional network from the start
  • Firm brand guidelines on LinkedIn — how to represent the firm consistently

The outcome

Each graduate leaves the programme with a complete, professionally written LinkedIn profile aligned with your firm's tone and brand. They understand why LinkedIn matters to their practice area career — not just as a general assertion, but in terms of the specific people they want to be visible to.

The programme also seeds the right habits early: graduates who start with a clear framework are far more likely to maintain an active, purposeful LinkedIn presence as their careers develop.

Format

  • Duration: Half-day workshop (3 hours) or two 90-minute sessions
  • Group size: Up to 20 graduates per cohort
  • Format: Hands-on — participants update their profiles during the session
  • Timing: Ideally within the first 4 weeks of the graduate intake
  • Delivery: Linda Cheung, in-person or remote

We've run LinkedIn onboarding for our graduate intake for three years now. The difference in profile quality and posting confidence between the cohorts who've had the training and those who haven't is immediately visible.
